How Beard Balm Works & Why You Need It

CBCO's beard balm

First Things First, What Is It?

Beard balm contains the same essential and moisturising properties as beard oils, but is also combined with beeswax. Unlike oil, it has a much more solid consistency, much like that of natural lip balms. Beard balm allows you all of the benefits of a beard oil but you can also style your beard!

Why Should I use it?

Do you find you have ‘fly away’ hairs on your beard? Does your beard always look frizzy and untamed even after brushing? This is exactly the reason why you need this!

Your beard will be hydrated to start with. No dryness or straw like feel, you will notice how much softer your beard will feel after using a balm.

It also has beeswax in which gives it that stiffer consistency. this is what will help control your beard.

No matter how long your beard, a balm can tighten up the shape. You’ll have a much more groomed appearance and those pesky hairs will stay exactly where you want them to be.

What is the Best Time to Use a Balm

It’s always advisable to use any products after showering ensuring to thoroughly shampoo your beard. A beard specific shampoo is not essential, just ensure your shampoo is free from any silicone, sulphate and paragons.

Some also recommend to apply balm before bed to keep the shape overnight. This will make it much easier to style in the morning and assist with training the hair into the shape you are after

How to Use Beard Balm

Now you have a perfectly washed and groomed beard, let’s give it some shape!

All you need is around a fingernails worth of balm and ensure the beard is fully coated. if you have a particularly long beard you can apply extra but don’t over-apply or you will have a greasy face decoration. You can use a brush to get the balm in-between the hairs and then use the palm of your hand to smooth the beard catching those fly away hairs. You will also get a loose hold on the moustache too, using your forefinger and thumb to coat the moustache and firmly pinch towards the ends if you wish to turn the tips upwards.
